I have used several USB outlets in the past. I have installed them in several properties, but usually in the kitchen where family and guests like to gather and invariably need to charge their devices.
I have found the Eaton brand to be one of the best if not the best of all that I have used. This unit has both the old and new (A and C) style plugs so it is compatible with most any device including the newest. I ordered USB-C cables specifically to fit this unit for my new phone and keep my smart speaker plugged into another outlet in the same room.
The unit itself is high-quality and solid. It is a large unit because of the electronics and is a tight fit in a standard outlet box. This unit has the tamper resistant plug which can be a bit of a pain when plugging items in, but that’s the code now for new construction.
Overall, this is a fantastic unit and the brand has been highly reliable. I would highly recommend it for new and upgrading anywhere you need a convenient plug but don’t want a “wall wart” sticking out.

This product is easy to install. I can now charge my USB phone and other electronics without an adapter. Also I am able to use the other two sockets to use for my light above my desk. It’s very convenient and useful for my needs. I can also use another adapter to charge an additional USB driven device with the regular outlet port. To install, simply remove the existing outlet in your wall. Be sure to shut off the electricity to this outlet before attempting to change out. After the old outlet has been removed, attached the wires to the proper connection side and be sure to attach the ground wire in place. All instructions are included with the product for easy installation. After successfully installing the new outlet, turn the power back on and enjoy!

Outlet is great and will work with most devices, but the 5 amp claim is a bit misleading. USB C is capable of delivering 100 watts (20 volts at 5 amps) however the 5 amps listed on the packaging is really 2 amps through the USB type A + 3 amps through USB type C. While this outlet will work to quick charge my phone. I was hoping it would be able to deliver the full 5A through the USB C connector making it “future proof” for devices that will utilize the full 5 amps

I love the functionality of the outlet due to its usb and type c ports.

This is perfect for my kitchen area. We have a corner where everyone wants to charge their items. The extra space without the need for charging blocks is perfect!

I like not having to use a cube! I can just plug my cord right in. I also like having an A & C receptacle.

I am sure that this is a fine product in terms of working correctly. But, please be aware that this is very large in terms of the part that fits in the outlet box. It is bigger (ie deeper) than a GFCI.
I tried to fit it in my outlet box on my kitchen island and it wouldn’t fit. To be fair, it was an old work box but this item would not fit even though there was only one wire in the box and no wirenuts in the box. This same outlet box easily fits a GFCI but would not accommodate this outlet. I was disappointed.
Instead, I opted for an outlet cover that has USB ports built in to it.

Extremely convenient to have an outlet with USB and USB-C outlets built in. No more hassle with all worts. I’ve swapped a few of the normal outlets out in my house already for the outlets that also accommodate standard USB. With more electronics going to USB-C this is the logical next step.
Installation was extremely easy. I’m just a home DIYer. Only potential issue is making sure that you have enough room in the electrical box. These are a lot larger than stands outlets. Single boxes are usually no issue but double boxes can be a tight squeeze. Just make sure the electricity is turned off. Maybe a 5 min job.
Once installed and power turned back on it worked as expected. Started charging USC-C devices with no issues.

Installed this outlet in about 5 minutes and I am delighted that I have been able to eliminate the power cord/charger jumble by my nightstand floor. This was an easy swap out using the quick connect wire connections and the outlet fit perfectly in the box. The face of the outlet does protrude slightly from the face plate but it is not very noticeable. This outlet has allowed me to eliminate the floor clutter under my nightstand making vacuuming much more convenient. I am very pleased with the look, convenience and performance of this outlet.

The Eaton 15A Type A & C USB Outlet White is a nice addition to a charging cord cluttered home. The outlet wires easily to your existing home wiring with the big difference being the single side terminal vs the dual screw connections on most outlets. The biggest issue I had with this outlet was the physical side of the outlet. In my workshop, I have old metal electrical boxes, and this pushed them to the max on physically holding the new plug. I was able to get it in with some finesse tho.
The TR safety feature is very stiff when new and needs some time to smooth out. Most plugs in my older home are not TR plugs and this can be frustrating for the first few insertions. The USB charging is the main reason for this plug. The charging speeds are excellent, and I like that you can use the USB ports and leave devices plugged into the 3 prong outlets at the same time.
Overall a great addition to get rid of charging cable clutter around the home and an easy switch from a basic outlet to this outlet.

It’s well built and seems to be working as expected.
However, these USB receptacle outlets are significantly longer in length compared to a standard 15 or 20A receptacle outlet and will require a box with sufficient depth and capacity to accommodate them.
If you have other wires/cables inside the box used for daisy chaining jumpers or taps then the remaining capacity inside the box may not be sufficient. Also if any of the romex connectors enter the box from a side KO rather than the ones located towards the back of the box then, it’s probably a no go there too. I ran into this problem with one of the locations I wanted to install it.
And if you have any shallow boxes or “old work” metal cut in boxes, then the likelihood of getting them to fit is not in your favor.
Choose your locations wisely because it will save you a lot of time and frustrations in the long run.

This outlet works really well, looks good with the rectangular form, and having both USB outlets nearby without charging blocks is nice.
As always; Eaton products work great.

I installed this outlet in my home office in order to have a convenient charging port close to my desk. This allows me to charge my iPad or iPhone while I work at my desk or sit and read on the window seat. This location allows me to charge the device and have it close by as I work or read. A simple charging cable is all that’s needed and there is no charging block to clutter up the decor. All I need is the cable and I don’t have to search for a charging converter.

Clearly, the way we power our homes and our devices has come to a common point. I absolutely love the idea of charging and powering my devices this way instead of using power-adapters (bricks) everywhere.
There are a couple of things that make this a little trickier to install than a typical power outlet. Since the the housing so much larger (it undoubtedly has a transformer) it pretty much takes up all the space in the outlet box, and may even require you to replace the mount with a deeper one. Done carefully you will PROBABLY be able to fit this in to a normal mount–just be prepared to wrestle it into the mount when you install it.
It has one USB type A connector and one USB type C connector. I am not sure the world is really ready for a type C connector to be in power outlets–I think the jury is still out as to whether this will be widely accepted–but I like it. The packaging does make it clear that you have this A/C combo (not 2 type A’s like many USB outlets have), and it is clearly visible.

USB c outlet did not have enough power for my HomePod.

Good luck plugging two of anything in that isn’t Apple or a very slim plug. Measuring performance with a usb power meter, it fluctuates every second a delta of .02V and .2ohms, which puts it in and out every second of fast/PD registering vs. legacy. Most 5Vs will give you a generous 5.1+, this is always 5.03-4. You will not get more than 10watts from the usb-c. In 2024, you should not buy this unless you actually want a trickle charger.

This is a nice outlet that has two USB ports, one USB type C and another USB type A port.
The USB type A port will supply up to 2 Amps while the USB type C port will supply up to 3 Amps which is great to quick charge your portable electronic devices!
It does not come with a faceplate – that will have to be purchased separately.
The outlet requires a deep box – if you don’t have a box that is at least 2.5 inches deep, it won’t fit!
The outlet was wired up quickly and went in the box well.
I like this outlet!

After a year of functioning, we plugged our Android cell phones into the USB-C port and it won’t charge any longer. If we plug the phones into the outlet with the power brick provided with the cell phone, our phones successfully charge.

Has USB a and USB c as well as tamper resistant

Today we have alot to plug in and charge. More and more we have wires that connect to a end that plugs into the socket. Well this plug has a traditional USB and a round mini USB along with two outlets. It is so handy to have all these options in a plug. Phones, tablets game and all the normal things we have plugged in like kitchen, bath and bedroom items. It is very easy to un screw the cover, turn off the power, remove and un hook the wires from the old plug. Make sure you hook the wires back up the way they came off. Reinstall it back into the box, install the cover and turn the power back on and test it. If you followed those steps you should be ready to use. It is a very nice plug and very easy to install.

Easy to install & practical for charging electronics.

I have tried electrical outlets before and each had issues, slow charging, USB-A insert comes apart, takes an outlet away for the USB charger
Eaton seems to have addressed the issues I have with 120volt outlets doing USB charging.
Installation was normal for replacing a duplex outlet, Eaton uses a black screw for the hot side of the outlet, this is a good thing most amateur electricians wire the outlets backward.
I used an Ideal circuit breaker finder to find the right circuit so I did not irritate the wife by flipping breakers.
I have USB-A to USB-C cables, my phone seems to charge faster than normal, Eaton supplies 5amps to the USB charger side of this outlet which is another good thing, faster charging.

With everything using USB to charge these days it is a no brainer to include USB on the outlet itself. Not only does this one have the standard USB A it has the latest USB C which is the standard of the future.
The install is simple enough but one note is this outlet is much deeper than a standard old style as seen in the pics below. So make sure your outlet boxes are deep enough to handle the new one.
With two screw drivers you can install this in a matter of minutes. Just remember to turn the power off first, unless you like to work on the wild side and like the buzz of 110v! Also remember to turn the power back on when you’re done and not have your wife asking “Hey, why is this fancy new outlet not working?” Gee thanks honey!

I really like that this plug will charge our devices without needing one of those bulky boxes. It seems to charge phones well. The install went very quick also. My husband added an entire new outlet spot and he had it done in about 20 minutes. The only thing I didn’t care for was that the outlets seem to have something inside them that keeps kids from ramming forks, paperclips, etc… info them and it made it difficult for me to plug anything into them. This would be great for someone who had small kids and thought it may be an issue. For me it’s more of a hassle. It’s just a safety feature so I guess I shouldn’t complain. Overall I’d recommend.

The depth of the outlet is 1-3/4” so if you have a shallow box you may have trouble stuffing this thing, along with the wiring, all the way in. The outlet comes with only one screw per line/neutral as opposed to typical duplex outlets with twin screws. You can still install this in the middle of a run as the screws have clips for a straight wire end rather than having to curve it around the screw. This makes it easy… well, as easy as it can be to work with stiff house wiring in a small area… to install the outlet either in the middle of a run or at the end.
Also would’ve liked a cover plate but I had one in my big “box-o-electrical” parts in the basement.
I installed this one at the end of a run and the usb port powers one of my security cameras. Doesn’t stick out as far as the power supply for the camera.
Easy enough to install. One weird thing, and I’ve seen this before, is that to me they want you to install the outlet upside down. Top and bottom are labeled on the back of the outlet where, if you installed it that way, your ground on the plug is going to be on top. Who installs outlets like that??? In one of my photos, see how the power strip cord plugged in to the bottom outlet angles down? If I installed it as labeled, the thing would be sticking up in the air. The way I’ve installed it, the CORRECT way, puts the A-type usb power outlet upside down but it’s nothing that important. There are no labels showing after installation that are going to remind you it’s not the way Eaton wanted you to install it.

I have been considering one of these outlets for the past few years as our collection of devices with charging necessities has grown and was excited to finally get one. I am pleased to report upon installation, I can now hypothetically charge two devices, make toast and have an additional kitchen gadget plugged in all at the very same time! And no clunky adapter plugs need apply!
The USB C port allows for rapid charging which almost everyone knows can occasionally be a lifesaver and is always a convenience, let’s be honest. We will probably end up purchasing more of these to put in other rooms in the house as well.
Straightforward install, but you will have to buy an outlet cover separately.

I thought this was just a combined outlet with USB outputs. It actually has USB A and C outlets. The “C” is relatively new to me but the grand kids were well aware (required for newer versions of iPhones). Installation was relatively simple and I really liked the dual wire connection capability. (See photo). This connection may be common place, but not being an electrician I think that I have not installed one of these. Overall this outlet provides essentially four separate sources of power and will prove to be very useful next to bed side table.

plug does not work with everything. my vacuum plug did not fit… Can be tricky
