This unit allows you to keep your outlets free while charging your USB systems. I have three white ones in strategic locations in the house and this one I mounted inside my travel trailer. I am going to buy another one for use in the travel trailer.

I bought this outlet specifically for the USB ports. My goal was to simplify the charging of my iPad. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. For some reason, and I don’t know why, when I plugged the charging cable for my iPhone into the outlet it worked fine. My iPhone began charging. This worked the same for the other cell phones in the house. Yet, when I plugged in my iPad, nothing happened. It was as though the USB ports in the outlet were underpowered for the task. Electrically speaking, this makes no sense. I even went out and purchased a second Legrand outlet on the chance that the first one was defective. The second one didn’t work either. Nevertheless, when I took out the Legrand outlet and installed a similar outlet made by Leviton, I had no problem. My iPad began charging without a problem. There’s no reason this should have happened but it did.
