I have 4 of these outlets – 2 purchased 6 months go and 2 purchased today (3/17/2020) at in Xenia Ohio. My reason for 1 star is the fact that it is very difficult to plug a power cord into either of the two 120V outlets. When plugging in a power cord there is some internal interference that prevents easy insertion of the cord. All of the power cords I have tried (new and old) require “jiggling” in order to eventually get the cord to insert fully. I wish I could be more specific but successful insertion is the result of random movements where you eventually get the cord to fully plug in, due to probability, rather than careful placement.
Why did I purchase 2 more – I wrongly assumed the problem experienced with the first two outlets were fixed by the manufacturer.
And no, I am not a shrill… Store 2603, Terminal 06, 3/17/2020 17:12:46 – Transaction # 6479566

It’s a little large/deep for a single gang box if you’ve got multiple lines running in and out of that one box, but if it’s the last on a line, or if you have larger gang boxes, it will fit just fine. It works great to charge phones, etc., and still leaves the outlets free. Great if you only have one outlet behind the bed, etc., where you’d like to plug in an alarm clock and/or lamp, and also charge at least one device.
We have one behind our headboard, an alarm clock and lamp plugged in, and we each got longer charging cables that will reach and this is doing the job quite well.
The other receptacles are too far from the bed to be useful, unless we want to run cables several feet from there to our night stands.

CANT even think the USB port[s] was used even 4-5x at most. Outlets fine, juts NOT charging ports.
GOt on a whim thinking wud be HANDY not using up a plug with full adapter, just cleaner look on coutner..go to use it.. NOTHING. Of course it JUST outta warranty. If thats the service most people get outta these, I’ll buy or try a BUDGET throwaway amzn verison for half or even 1/3rd price- and if it TOO goes out..who cares and not such big loss. At the LEAST , maybe ai’ll just try a differnte BRAND or more $$ name and see what happens. But I AINT buying another of these… maybe i just got LEMON, that sneaked by Q/A checks. I did buy off but then its all chaiwanese anymore, right? So ya NEVER truly know what ur getting anymore. No ones fault but our own. But few if any can afford to pay $150 for an american-made union-labor-produced outlet ot product either. So it is what it is, I reckon. My actual item photos provided so you can zoom in for verification. Perhaps I shouda found way to place a meter to show no usb voltage for better evidence. Like i said, of course its outta warranty… wouldnt care if had got ANY REAL USE OF IT.

We were remodeling my office and I told my wife I wanted to put two of them so we could charge our electronics. She questioned why because of the price. So after I installed them she still did not get it. A few days later her friend was over and their child needed to charge their phone but did not have the plug, I told them go into the office and charge it, they were amazed and my wife turned to me and asked, “Can we put these in the teenagers’ room?” I said yes and went and bought one for my two two teens, my side of the bed and the family room. We were just remodeling our bedroom and my wife turned to me and said, “So when am I getting my USB plug in?” I said now that you want it I will go get it and will be buying it today to install. Love this product!

Very easy installation. Looks gorgeous, especially when paired with the switch frame that was made for it. It does have a light metallic sheen to it, so it’s not just a flat brown. The tamper resistance works great, it’s hard as heck to get a voltmeter probe in there to make sure it’s working correctly, haha!

We replaced a standard duplex receptacle with the Legrand replacement receptacle. It was a 20 minute job. We flipped the breaker in the garage to make it safe to work on the receptacle. Then we removed the old duplex and straitened out the wires that were wrapped around the screws on the old one and were happy to see that the new outlet let us just push the wires into a pinhole on the back of it. No having to wrap the wires around a screw. Just insert and you are done. Make sure you follow the color code white/black. You do have to screw the ground wire to the chassis of the new one. Anyway the added dual USB charger plugs freed up the two power plugs for other devices. This worked out great on our kitchen counter top.

I was forever looking for another cube for the cable to recharge my iPhone. Now, I just plug the cable directly into the wall outlet. I just leave the charging cable in the outlet where I am usually watching TV, gaming, on the computer (whose usb ports are normally full) and I have access to a charge whenever I need it. Installation is exactly the same as with any other wall plug. I have a couple of these in my bathroom so that I can charge phones, watches, hearing aids, etc. overnight and have the devices away from my bed.

Although it was a standard outlet installation, nowhere on the package did it list it as a tamper resistant outlet. Because of this feature it males it difficult to use the 110 volt when the usb is being used and vise versa. A non TR plug would but much more user friendly. Additionally the screwless required cover fits poorly on boxes that aren’t perfectly lined up with the drywall opening. leaving gaps on the cover plate that wouldn’t be there on a screw on plate. The cover plate is difficult to remove. I’d never buy another one.

I bought this and installed it in the kitchen of our new home in April 2017. We LOVED having two USB ports that could be used for charging our devices without having to keep up with the charging cubes. After daily use without any issues for just over 6 months it suddenly stopped working. I noticed the left USB port was difficult to plug into as if the connector had become unseated or loose. The right USB still has a snug fit but will not charge so I’m guessing it’s a short or something related to the left outlet. I tried resetting the breaker and testing with multiple devices without any luck, so now we’re left with just a very expensive basic wall outlet (the outlets continue to work fine, only USB failed). I would recommend researching other brands/models based on my experience!

Bought 3 to install in the bathroom and bedroom. Got the first installed and tested it out. The electrical outlets have poorly aligned connections and you have to fight to get anything plugged in. One plug wouldn’t let anything be plugged in at all. The USB plugs work but feel loose. An outlet that can’t accept a plug is worthless.
Also, they are wider and deeper than regular plugs and take up almost all the room in the junction box. Getting the extra wire back in the box and getting the unit seated took some time.
Once I realized I couldn’t plug anything in I had to remove it and reinstall the original plug. I’ll be taking these back and not buying anything else from this company.

The outlet is a little tricky to install the wires for a weekend warrior. I prefer the type that allows you to place the bare wire into a slot and tighten the screw. This outlet requires you to take off the entire screw and place the wire into place while trying to reinsert a tiny screw and a holding plate. A pro would cruise through this. A weekend warrior who installs a new outlet every two years will struggle.
The biggest issue is the tamper-proof plugin. These are terrible and require you practice plugging in a cord. I initially thought there was something wrong with the plug until I tried and tried MULTIPLE times until I finally figured it out. This feature is a major pain in the you know what and makes this product a no buy on my list.

tried to install in island cabinet, to large for electric box with conduit. ok, next idea…
installed in regular wall box, went well. however, there is some sort of interior spring that
you must overcome when plugging in. very difficult to plug in vacuum. wife not happy.
also, each usb port is 180 degrees. down low, hard to see…really?! make it hard to plug in?!!!
didn’t keep receipt, throw in trash and start over

The location of the USB ports allows a two prong plug to be inserted. Because some of these outlets have a security feature, pushing a two prong into the USB with force (same force as the security outlet) will damage the ports. Location of these vertical USB ports are often covered when using a USB plug-in adapter in the three prong outlets, rendering the USBs unusable. These should be horizontal to correct design flaws. Also, the amperage noted on the description is misleading. The 3.1 amps cited is the total for both ports (Legrand website). Most USB adapters have a higher amperage. I found that adapters charge all my devices faster than the incorporated USB ports in this outlet.
