I really like the new Eaton electrical receptacle with built in charging ports for usb-C devices. I think it give a clean look and allows you to charge without having the charging block. Not only does this look better, it also lets you use the regular convenience outlet as intended.
First, some caution! If you are not comfortable installing this receptacle, please contact an electrician. However, turn off the breaker first and check that it is off twice! This outlet installs like every other outlet in the US, just make sure your neutral and hot wires and ground go to the correct screws.
That’s it! You will also need a rectangular opening faceplate for this outlet, just like ones for Ground fault receptacles. Now, you are ready to charge away!

The dual USB-C charging outlet provides a great built in solution to charging modern devices without the need for a charging brick. This has allowed us to charge our phones and other devices like flashlights and tablets without the need for a charging brick hanging off the wall.
The outlet requires a decorator plate and installs with simple side wire terminals. The outlet is very deep and in our older home, the existing metal box was very tight with two sets of wires and the new outlet. We took the opportunity to upgrade to a deeper two wide box and added a built in HDMI port next to it for the tv. This gives us power for mobile devices and a built in HDMI port and still having full access to both outlets while devices are charging.
Overall a great clean looking addition that provides new functionality without compromising existing.

This receptacle doubles as a regular wall outlet and eliminates the adapter for your USB-C cable to charge or supply power to your phone or tablet. Works great! Charges my phone and tablet at the same time very quickly. Was very easy to replace with the existing wall receptacle.
Working with any home electrical wires can be dangerous. Using a certified electrician is suggested. If you install it yourself make sure no live power is going to the wall receptacle to be replaced. Then follow the included instructions.
It takes up more room in the box than just a regular receptacle so check to see if the box is capable in size to hold it and the wires before disconnecting anything. Where I intended for it to go the box was too small and too many wires were in it so I had to find another location. My house is old.
It does not come with a wall plate. So get one along with it.
It’s great to not have the adapter sticking out from the wall and to be able to plug two devices in while still having two electrical outlets. I highly recommend it.

This outlet works great, no issues and surprisingly it fast charges fine. The USB-C outlets are rated for 5 Amps TOTAL, so you’ll get 3A from the first cord plugged in and 2A from the second. Assuming my calculations are correct, this should provide 15A from the first and 10A from the second USB-C outlet at 5V DC; this is decent power to charge most devices, even if not at the fastest level (it’ll charge all the 2.1A and 2.4A devices). This Outlet is deep (~1.75″ in box, 2″ deep total) so make sure you have adequate room in the outlet box first. I’m not big on tamper resistant outlets as they are sometimes very difficult to insert a plug, but they’re safer for households with kids and this one worked fine. Overall very pleased with this, it’s much better than having power warts sticking off the wall!

Really handy replacement outlet, giving you the flexibility of USB C charging without an adapter. Installation is as easy as any other outlet… just wire it in like usual, screw the cover on, and youre done. Annnnd the cover plate doesn’t come with it (which is a bit difficult to see from the packaging), so buy that at the same time or you’ll be making another trip to . And be sure to get the right cover or… you get the idea. The second biggest “but…” here besides the cover plate is the immense thickness of the unit. You will definitely want to make sure you check the old outlet box to make sure there’s enough space for this behemoth… some older homes may not have sufficient space (depth or width) or you’re back to making another trip for a new, bigger box.

Happy to get rid of the charging base and upgrade to this nifty little product that lets you plug two USB–C cables straight into the wall outlet. My phone and tablet showed “rapid charging” when plugged into these slots. Installing is simple when you are just replacing one receptacle with another. If you can operate a screwdriver and follow instructions, you can handle this. Labeling is stamped onto the receptacle to tell you which wire goes where. A nice safety feature is that there are little plastic covers in the electrical plug which move out of the way when you plug something in and snap back in place when you remove the plug. What a great idea. This is recessed inside the outlet so you don’t even see these tamper-proof safeguards. As for charging, the model I have is 15-amp AC rating (this company also makes a 20-amp version) with 5 amp DC output for charging. According to the instructions, that 5 amp rating is the total for both USB ports. The first device plugged in will get the full 3 amps, and a second device would get less, and it reads the info for the device and sends the correct amount to its battery.

Electrical receptacle’s with built-in USB ports are becoming more common, and now, like this Eaton version, they are available with USB-C ports. These are a great convenience and eliminate the need to the ubiquitous wall wart. They also provide a higher amperage so whatever you are charging will charge faster. The typical USB wall wart provides 1 or 1.5 amps. This Eaton receptacle provides 5 amps. One thing I could not determine was whether each USB port has 5 amps or if the 5 amps is split between the two ports. Either way it’s still better than average. One thing to be aware of is these receptacle’s are much deeper than a standard receptacle, so be prepared if you have a small or crowded box in the wall. Also, the 125 volt outlets are the tamper-resistant type, something I’m not a real fan of, but if you have children they are probably a good idea. They tend to make inserting a plug a bit of a struggle, and that’s exactly what happens here. Hopefully they will get easier to use over time.

Most importantly, this looks to potentially not fit in some electrical boxes. I have “modern” boxes installed about 10 years ago and the outlet literally had to be pushed in the bend the box slightly due to ribs inside the box. But… it fit, now it just squeaks a little when you plug/unplug things because the back of the outlet rubs on the inside of the box. Anyway though, overall this works pretty well, the 120V receptacles are very tight, which I think is great so plugs don’t fall out. The tamper resistant shutters aren’t too hard to use. The charging port seems to work great, is positioned well so as to be able to use everything at once, and it powers my phone in “fast charge” so it is putting out enough power which is nice. For install, it uses “backwire” connections so you don’t have to bend and wrap the end of the wire, I really like these (these are not the stab in connections, but rather ones that still tighten with the screw). The outlet face seems to stick out a lot more than others in the house, but overall it seems to work just great. I am taking off one star due to the overall fit in the box since that could have been better designed to fit more applications

This is the kind of outlet I’d like to use to replace all of the outlets in my house. Having USB-C built right in is a wonderful convenience. This isn’t going to do any fancy fast charging, but it will get the job done. Especially with it being less common for devices to come with power adapters. The tamper resistance is a nice touch and is not too tight as to make plugging anything in overly difficult.
Installation was incredibly simple. And I’ve never done any electrical work before. The hardest part was trying to fit this back into the box in the wall since it is over twice as thick as the outlet it replaced.

As far as USB-c outlets go, there are better options…….. First, while this outlet has two USB type C ports in addition to two standard 120 VAC outlets, the USB-c ports do not have Power Delivery (PD). They are limited to 5V charging. And while the packaging proclaims 5A, that really means the first device can charge at a max of 3A (conforming to USB requirements) and the second device maxes out at 2A. Charging at 5V and 3A (15W) is pretty slow compared to the 45-60W you can get from a good PD charger……Second, the outlet itself is huge. If you are replacing an existing outlet in a standard depth box, chances are you’re going to have a hard time getting it to fit (see photo). I have a single gang metal junction box, and I couldn’t get the outlet to fit. There were two wires coming into the box, so some wire in the back, but not much, and I could not get the outlet even close to fitting into the box…..Third, I understand Tamper Resistant (TR) outlets are required in certain installations, but they’re just a pain. And this one is TR…..On a positive note, the screw terminals can connect two wires, so its a little easier if you need to connect incoming and outgoing wiring. But good luck getting the wires to fit behind the outlet.

If you’re overwhelmed with having to connect and disconnect frequently I highly recommend these outlets. Very easy to install! This outlet makes it easy to charge our phone and tablet while still being able to connect other things needed.
The outlet is of strong material and the finished look is very updated. remember to also purchase a new outlet cover that is for this updated outlet. The old one will not fit. The outlet is thick but don’t worry once all is set in the cover fills it in nicely. The cable charging ports are type c which is very convenient as many phones that are not iphone have changed from micro usb to type c.
First, make sure power is completely off on the outlet you are working on. This product comes with an instruction manual that makes wiring very user friendly. Note that the instructions direct you to install the outlet to what may look like its upside down to you. But, rest assured it will be ok. This is done as a security measure to keep anything that may fall on a hanging connection from causing any unwanted spark. Therefore keeping your home safer. A neat feature is the TRR (tamper resistant receptacle) TRR is a feature built in safety shutters that block foreign objects from being inserted into the receptacle. Which is a way to childproof your outlets. Make sure that you ground the wire correctly and securely. You will not have power otherwise. Overall very pleased with this product that I will be updating my main floor outlets.

Eaton TRUSBC15W USB-C Charger with Duplex Receptacle. This receptacle comes equipped with two 15-amp 120-volt tamper resistant outlets and two USB-C 5-amp charging outlets. This receptacle is the perfect addition to any room or work space that needs 15-amp 120 AC power along with USB-C 5-amp DC charging. You can charge your computer and cell phone or tablet at the same time. This duplex receptacle is robust enough to charge four devices from the same outlet (i.e. two 120-volt devices and two USB-C devices). The 5-amp USB-C charging capability allows for quick or turbo charging of devices. The USB-C outlet is bi-directional so it doesn’t require a fixed side to be identified to insert correctly like a traditional USB port does. The tamper resistant duplex outlets allows for safe use around little ones and curious minds. I am very pleased with the addition of this outlet in my kitchen area. Having the built-in USB-C charging outlets frees up the 120 volt outlets that would normally be used to power my cellphone and tablet charging adapters. I highly recommend the Eaton TRUSBC15W USB-C charger with duplex receptacle.

The Eaton TRUSBC15W is a multi-useful receptacle. Installation is straightforward and simple if you are even a little bit used to changing receptacles and light switches. The saddle clamps that hold the wires in place are very easy to use, if the wires are straight, so be sure to straighten your wires before trying to insert them. Also, make sure that there is room in the box for the wires, wire nuts and receptacle. If possible, push all excess wiring as far back into the receptacle box to make it easier to insert the receptacle.
Being able to both charge my phone and operate or charge another device while using both 110-volt receptacles is a big bonus. For me, it allows me to charge my phone and keep my Bluetooth speaker plugged in while in the kitchen. The batteries on my speaker quit holding a charge long ago, but the speaker is still good, so I can charge my phone, make and receive calls via the amplified speaker-phone function of my speaker and listen to music from my phone while cooking or doing other kitchen duties. I have lots of receptacles in my kitchen, but for some reason all but one seems to be occupied all the time. This multipurpose receptacle helps me keep things tidy and provide some more functionality as well. A bonus, if you are mounting on an outside wall, is the protective shutters that close over the 110-volt receptacles when not in use. Also, the enclosed box design of the receptacle is part of that bonus. What bonus? Helping to reduce the influx of cold air into your home through open receptacles. I checked all my outside wall receptacles several years ago and found that all of them were quite leaky. A trip to for outlet insulation and insulated switch/outlet weatherstrip took care of those. This receptacle fits into that energy saving scheme very well.
The outlet seems strong and durable, and the connections are tight. Loose electrical connections increase resistance to the flow of electricity and causes a buildup of heat, which is wasted electricity. A tight connection is very important. I highly recommend this outlet and/or the twenty-amp version for those who need to power a multitude of devices. With a “USB-C to any of several USB connector adapters, these receptacles can also be used to power devices that require connections other than USB-C.

This plug is great for convenient charging of cell phones. Size is about the same as a GFI plug so it is a bit more bulky than a standard socket. Keep that size in mind if you have shallow boxes. The depth of the socket is 2″ from the mount plate to the back of the unit so keep that in mind. It will fit into a standard box but not anything less. There are two standard 120v 15amp outlets along with two 5v- 3.5A usb ports. Another thing to keep in mind is that while any sized electrical plug will work (same as a regular socket) large ones will block access to the usb ports. Also the plug extends out past where a regular socket does. Not by much but it is noticeable. If you have experience changing electrical plug out this will be no problem to install. If not, get someone that can help (friend, electrician, etc.) . After using this for a week I picked up two more to add around the house. One thing to consider though is that this is not for FAST charging.

The replacement outlet is easy to install and provides 2 USB-C connections in addition to the standard two 110V outlets. The outlet is clearly labeled and uses the newer clamp style connections which do not required wrap-around wire bending.
The outlet is large. Size wise it is double a regular outlet in the box and protrudes from the outlet cover by approximately 1/4″. It incorporates the tamper resistant plug slots (if that is important to you, but not for me).
The USB connections are USB-C and unfortunately if you are like me, most of my cables are USB-A to USB-C for charging my phone etc… I have a few of USB-C to USB-C cables, and they are readily available, but …
Incorporating a USB charging plug into an outlet is a personal decision as I am ok with using a USB charging block which can be put into any outlet.
This works great, as enough power for quick charging and eliminates the charging block if that’s what you want. I think these would be more accepted if the prices drop …

This review is for the Eaton Dual USB-C outlet (white).
I installed this in a kitchen electrical box that shared an outlet and a light switch.
It was previously a standard outlet, so I bought a new faceplate with one ‘decora’ style position, and one standard switch.
The decora slots are universal in the sense that they will accept either a switch or an outlet.
I have converted several of these boxes to hybrid std+decora faceplates for smart switch devices in my home – same concept here.
You can buy them basically in any configuration you need.
This outlet has the standard double 3-prong grounded outlets and has slipped 2 USB-C ports in between to use as USB power sources.
The likes: I like that it eliminates the need for a charger power block/”wall wart” as the USB charger/power components are built into the outlet.
This allows it to provide and connect USB power to any device that uses a USB-C to USB-C cable. The TRUSBC15 provides 5A @ 5V (25W) of power.
The dislikes: It is very large (see pictures) and takes up every bit of space on its side of the electrical box. There was barely any space left for any wiring.
The box that I installed it in had wiring coming in the back on that side, and it was very tight.
Even after trimming a little excess off the stripped ends, I still didn’t get it installed as flush as I would like, but it is not very noticeable in the under-counter location in which I installed it.
This integrated design makes it so that the power supply is always connected active inside. They do not specify a quiescent (idle) current. Some power supplies are better than others at this kind of efficiency.
Each USB connection is USB-C (newer small oval style). I have seen other charge outlets that have (2) USB-A (like the standard 3/4″ wide x 1/4″ tall, and still on most computers),
or a combo of USB-A and USB-C. The issue with USB-C only is that the device you are charging needs to have a USB-C port, and you need a USB-C to USB-C cable. There are probably special adapters, but I have never seen a USB-C on the charger side with anything else but a USB-C port on the device side. For example for a micro USB (small trapezoidal style), or a mini USB (taller trapezoidal – these are older and mostly phased out) – if you want to charge those devices, I don’t think this outlet is a very good choice for those applications.
The wire terminations have wire clamp plates that you must pay attention to where the wire gets inserted. I reterminated the wires using the strip gauge on the old outlet, which seemed to be the same as the new outlet, but it was not marked, and was not as easy to use. Some of my wires did not conform to the recommended dimensions – if too short they don’t fully engage if too long, you’re left with bare wire sticking out from the terminal.
The “tamper-resistant” feature means there are small little plastic flaps just inside the house power outlets Hot and Neutral that must be pressed in before an electrical contact can be touched with a foreign object. Not difficult to defeat, but would slow or deter some kids and objects from entering. This is a safety feature, but it will not guarantee tampering by an individual.
Overall I think this product is usable and fine for USB-C devices with cables that have USB-C on each end. Although, it is limited in fit and applications, so I’d like to see what other options are available before I would install again.

Super convenient. I can plug my phone or tablet in while working from the kitchen island without losing an outlet or looking for my charging block. It works great for any device that’s designed to work with a 25 Watt or smaller charger. It’s not clear from the specs if the total power output of the USB ports is 25 Watts or if each can deliver up to 5 Amps at the same time. I had my tablet and wireless charger plugged in at the same time without a problem. With everyone finally standardizing on USB-C connections, I’m going to replace a few of my other outlets that have USB-A ports on them. The outlet is a direct replacement for a standard 15 Amp duplex receptacle. Installs in a few minutes. The receptacle does not include a cover plate. You’ll need to purchase that separately.

Eaton products usually have great build quality and this device is no exception. I put it in the master bedroom where we have a siting area so we can top off our phones or tablets while relaxing in the chairs. I like that it is USB-C as that will be the most common plug type for new devices and you can already get cables that have USB-C on one end and whatever apple needs on the other. The plugs snap into the receptacle firmly so they won’t fall out. 5A is the maximum combined output, but it’s actually 3A for each port individually. This is plenty for phones and tablets but the laptops need more. It should charge a laptop if it is powered off, but I expect it would take a long time. In-wall chargers with that kind of amperage are easily twice the cost and hard to find.
Installation was as easy as changing any normal receptacle. Power off the breaker, test to make sure the line is actually dead, then swap the unit. The terminals are well marked for which wire goes where. Make sure there is ample space in the wall box because these things are big and if you have a lot of wires junctionIng through the box, you might want to consult an electrician to make sure everything is done correctly per your local electrical building code.
It is nice to have the USB-C ports right on the wall so you don’t have to find a charging brick.

Seeing this product gave me an idea about putting a receptacle with USB – C capability near my credenza in my home. This would save me less trouble of plugging in a portable transformer to charge my phone.
Since a lot of the new electronics are starting to use the USB – C model this was able let me directly plug-in to the outlet without having to use a additional adapter from B to C. I chose this model because it has two USB – C outlets.Because I have a phone and tablet that both need charged and this fits the need for me. Another plus it’s also an electrical duplex outlet and the USB-C slots are horizontal making it easier for me to plug in.
I personally like Eaton Products since I’ve used them throughout my home and their decorative styles are appealing to me. this model has five amp charging rate which is more than one of my other USB charging ports have and it’s tamper resistant.
Since I wanted this location I did have to install a new work box and wire it to another junction box but it was worth it. I only took about an hour and twenty minutes the convenience afterwards was worth it. I hope the manufactures of electronic products do not change for a while since I have several USB Outlets throughout my house but changing receptacles is really easy.

USB C is the fastest phone charging technology.
It sure comes in handy when you need your phone but the battery is low. We have all been there.
NOTE!!!
This charger does away with that familiar little charging ‘block’.
The block that you would normally plug into your a/c outlet and then plug your phone charging cord into the block.
IN FACT, a regular USB cable that plugs into the ‘block’ WILL NOT fit/plug into the charging ports on this receptacle.
A USB C cord has a different and smaller plug on the end you plug into the wall receptacle. The other end of the cord typically will have a lightning connector to plug into your phone. Nothing different on that end.
IF you don’t have any USB C cords, but have a USB C capable phone, then it is well worth the small expense to purchase a USB C cord and then be able to plug that cord into this receptacle. Now, you’ll be able to utilize the fast-charging capabilities available at a rate of 5 amps.
I found the receptacle very easy to install. IF you are not comfortable around electricity then I suggest hiring a handyman or an electrician.
Once installed, the receptacle looks very high tech and modern. Clean lines and looks.
A regular a/c plug, say from a vacuum cleaner or a lamp, plugs snugly into the regular slots. It’s a good tight fit.
And with two USB C ports, you should soon find yourself loving this little stealthy and handy device!

Install was easy, nothing different about this compared to a normal outlet other than the size. In a standard wall box, it’s going to be tight. If this is an inline outlet, you may need to trim some wire to save space.
It’s nice to have the option to power a device with the usb port. It essentially allows you to power 4 devices. It does charge phones at full speed which is good. Try to use name brand cables for your phone fyi.
The flaw with this one in particular is the prong/contact connection is loose. When plugging in devices to the outlet (not the usb), it’s very easy to wiggle it back and forth arcing the prongs and the contacts. For my application the devices will never be removed, so it won’t matter; but if you are going to be plugging things in regularly, just make sure your unit doesn’t do this.
Overall a good outlet though. Happy to have the USB port option now.

Installed this in our kitchen just above the kitchen island for easy access for charging phones. Wife and I both have Pixel phones and love the fast charger that came with it. Installed very easily, fits well in the gang box, wall plate fits well as well. A little difficult to plug something into the outlets, but that’s because they have the plastic safety feature so expect it to be harder to plug in. Plugged usb c cable into one of the charging ports and our phones show fast charging. Works just as well as the charger that came with the phone and doesn’t block the outlet at all. Looking to add some more near nightstand, and other areas that make it easy to charge our phones. Would definitely recommend this.
