This Eaton Wi-Fi Smart Duplex Receptacle works with Alexa and does not require a hub like some other wi-fi receptacles. The directions are clear and installation is simple if you have a little electrical knowledge. I was replacing a plug in wi-fi adapter that was bulky. This receptacle also does 3 way outlets if you have a room that you normally use a three way switch for lighting. Connecting to Alexa is simple with step by step directions and can be set up for automatic turn on through the Alexa App which is helpful when you are away.

I had my electrician install this. WiFi setup was easy and quick. My main issue is that only one outlet can be controlled, the second one is just a regular outlet. I wouldn’t complain about it had I known but after extensive research, I found out this information is not Disclosed by Eaton ANYWHERE, not on packaging, not on online descriptions / specifications and not on online manual and instructions. As a consumer, you only find out about this after you have installed the outlet. It is sold as a “Smart Double Receptacle” but for it to not be deceptive, it should be described accurately as “Double Receptacle with ONE Smart Outlet”.

I received this product to review. Then I didn’t review it for quite a while. When looking at it in the store about a thousand uses come to mind. Once I got it home though, my mind went blank.
It works very well and integrates with Alexa nicely. It was one of the easier devices to set up. The only real downside to this is that only one of the outlets is switched. I can see why someone would want that, but I would have preferred both be switched.
The unit is a little deeper than most receptacles, so make sure you don’t have too much excess wire in the back of the box. Instructions are printed on the outlet which is nice if you change your mind on where you wanted it down the road. Lastly, this has a special screw for a 3 way switch, a great feature if I was going to use it for lights.

The Eaton outlet was very easy to install, from start to finish only took about 15 minutes. It was a bit trickier getting it to connect to the Alexa app, took 3 tries before it was able to find the plug and connect. However, once I added it, it was very easy to turn on. FYI, there is no category for outlet, you add it as a plug. In the app, I was able to put the plug into my kitchen group and name it. I did find that the directions are a bit confusing, it took us a few minutes to figure out that the bottom outlet is the “smart” one and the top is always on. Also, we didn’t read the box, this outlet does not include the face plate and you’ll have to purchase one. We’ll buy one and add it later. Overall, I am very pleased with having this outlet added to the kitchen. We plan to use it for turning off and on a light.

Installed the Eaton WIFI Smart Duplex Outlet yesterday. Hardware install was just like any other outlet. No problem had it installed in 10 minutes. It has a extra Lug on outlet if it is to be installed on a 3 way switch. Mine was a 2 way. I already had my Alexa app installed , so pairing it to my WIFI only took minutes. You would have to download what ever platform you are using to control your WIFI accessories. Can be turned on and off manually with button on receptacle or left on and use as an ordinary outlet. You will need to get a wallplate which are very inexpensive a dollar or two. Works great, am interested in getting a few more.

Easy setup. Works great using Alexa. One plug works via Alexa and/or using the button on the plug, and the other is always on.

This WiFi outlet works great and was exactly what I needed to control a lamp in my living room! It installed like any other standard wall outlet, save the bulk ones on the back side. The outlet I chose had some other wires in the box that crowded the space and due to how much deeper this WiFi outlet is, things got pretty crowded in there. It fit, but it was tight. Everything else was great! It looks good, works very well, and the app was very easy to set up and use. Also a word of warning, the faceplate is not included even though it’s in the photo on the box.

I really like this product. It’s sleek and modern. Works well with voice and phone controls. The product was labeled really well as to where to install each wire. It was very easy to setup too. The plug is a little deep so make sure your box has enough volume and depth to meet requirements.

Amazing how this wifi tamper resistant outlet works. What I like best is that I can turn my house lights on/off even when I’m away from home, giving the impression someone is home. And I never have to come home to a dark house. Clear instructions were included but each procedure is clearly demonstrated in a video on line. The safety precautions are spelled out in simple yet cautious terms. Almost anyone could do it.

I have been looking for a high quality wifi outlet to work with my smart home. This Eaton wifi outlet works as well as their light switches! Easy to install and even easier to setup with Alexa. Hooked the first attempt and has never failed. I use this outlet to control a fan that is difficult to reach. What’s great about this, is one outlet is controlled, while the other operates as a normal outlet. I highly recommend these for your smart home applications. Just like Eaton wifi switches, these work perfectly with Alexa.

This is a pretty good wi-fi outlet. This has a nice unique feature in it’s 3-way control. This allows you to control the top outlet from a wall switch as well as through the smart control function. This makes it a bit more of a classic outlet than some other smart outlets on the market. Its app interface is pretty nice and allows you to pair this with smart switches as well. I do prefer some of the other receptacles on the market that allow for smart control for both receptacles on the outlet but that may not be the case for you.

While these are certainly pricey at around $50/each, they are great for controlling items over your wifi network. Highly recommend them, but hoping Eaton can fix their issues with the wifi switches!

This is a great product , I never thought I had a use for a remote controlled electrical outlet , but I thought I would try it . Well one month later I am really glad I did , coming home after dark I can have the lights already on in the house when I get there

This product is really NEAT and we LOVE it too!!
Nice to be able to get in bed with a light ON and then Tell Alexa to TURN OFF BEDROOM LIGHT!
OR…if you have to get up in the middle of the night for “something” you can tell ALEXA, TURN BEDROOM LIGHT ON! We just LOVE IT!!
I did have a little bit of a difficult time getting it to SINK UP with my Router, but at 74 nothing comes EASY anymore ( LOL ), but I DID IT and was proud of myself!
I SUGGEST this Product to EVERYONE and you WILL LOVE it too!!
To replace the electrical outlet was EASY, but TURN the POWER OFF first always!
It was Very Easy to Replace with No Problems! Anyone can do this task.

My main complaint about smart plugs is that they add heft to the outlet…a lot of times the whole point of the plug is that it is in an area that is hard to reach or has a tight space….thats where this is so beneficial. It has the exact dimensions as any normal outlet, and operates just as easily. Setup with my alexa took a matter of seconds and I was good to go. No complaints so far, and i doubt i will come across any. The only thing you MIGHT have to be aware of is that it carries the same size as a GFI plug so any outlets with a lot of wires or tight fitting might prove a challenging install, however nothing that is too worrisome…5/5

I have a small pump in my grow shed and wanted to control it without having to go in the shed. So I replaced my standard outlet to this one. I did have to get a bigger outlet box since this is alot thicker that the standard one. It was easy to install. I did have a problem with the interface with my wifi in the shed. But overall it works well for my needs.

I received the Eaton wi-fi double outlet to try out today and I must say it was very easy to install and set up, I was in the market for a plug to hook a big lamp that we have in our living room, and this was perfect, I was hoping it would be easy to install and well it was more simple then I thought it would be , hot wire neutral wire and ground that’s it (unless you are trying to do a three way then you just hook one more wire red and your done). Put the screws back in to install the plug then the fun part, hooking up to Alexa was super easy to do as long as you have the app on your phone, then it was test time, Alexa turn on plug and there was light and now you are done

I purchased two thru the from Concord NH via on-line. When I finally went to install the two outlets, both boxes were previously opened. Both did NOT WORK. It was obvious these were returned as in both boxes had bits of copper wire in them.

This outlet is easy to install.it installs like a regular outlet with 3 wires, hot neutral and ground. It can also work with a 3 way switch, became it has a place to put the extra wire that is needed for a thee way switch. To get this switch to work with Alexa, you turn on your Alexa app and follow its directions. A led indicator on the switch tells you that it is properly installed. You can use the app or just use your regular Alexa voice command to turn it on or off. You can also use it to schedule when you want lights or appliance to come on or off. It works very well for me ,because we have Alexa already in our house. This outlet will not work for Google, only Alexa. I am very happy with how it works. This outlet can also be turned off and used as a regular outlet if you want to. This outlet is 1 3/4 in thick and may not fit in some electrical boxes that are not very deep or filled with multiple wires.

This receptacle only took about 1/2 hour to replace a regular wall plug, download the app and install to the app. Quick, easy and will be useful.
Now the light can be turned on or off with a voice command or by the app. No more of the wife having ME to get up in the middle of her knitting to turn the light on. Another great benefit is whenever we are out and about, we can turn the light on for the dogs if we forget to turn it on before we leave or for the cats if you have those. Works for humans also if you don’t want to come home to a dark house.
Although the receptacle has two plug ins for two different things, I found only one works with commands. The other plugin always has power, so you have to turn on/off by hand whatever is plugged into it. I couldn’t find any information on the paperwork if I configured it wrong or that is how it is. I actually prefer it this way, this way the light can be controlled and the other plug can be used for an item such as a TV. You want power to it all the time so you won’t wonder why it won’t come on.
When setting it up, I set it up as a plug and then went into settings and changed it to “light”. This allows you to just say “Alex turn on or off light”. Keep in mind, if you turn off by hand whatever you plug into it, Alexa cannot turn it on. It did not come with a receptacle cover so you will need to get one that has the rectangular center.
This is a great handy device! Inexpensive but a well made, quality built receptacle.

This is a very easy to setup and use Alexa outlet, and prices is great.
Install is simple for a standard outlet replacement. If you aren’t comfortable with wiring, please get a pro, it would be a simple inexpensive job for a pro to replace a few outlet for you.
Setup for use with Alexa is super easy. I was able to start cusotomer’s Alexa app and recognized the outlet easily.
This one was setup for child’s lamp and sound machine.
I’d use this on my own house as well (plan to get 4 for my place)

This product is great for when traveling. You are able to control from the app allowing you to randomly turn lights off and on remotely. As opppsed to have lights on timers to turn on and off. I keep it by the bedside table in guest room which is right by the window. This allows for the security/safety piece. Turning light off and on when I travel.
I also used this during Xmas to turn my Christmas tree lights on and off. It was fantastic. Then I moved it into the bedroom. See the video attached. The pics don’t give much info.

I set this outlet up to control my workbench. I like to be able to turn off all my gadgets (bench lights, devices, chargers, etc…) with my voice at once. It has a very nice white gloss finish. The outlet is deep so make sure you have the appropriate depth box. I do like how one of the plugs is controlled and the other is always on. I found the setup in the Amazon Alexa app to be straight forward and simple.

I was planning to install an “analog” receptacle up high in this display area to power several items that will go up there, and with it add a switch down along where other switches are already located. This wi-fi receptacle allows me to skip the pain of adding a physical switch and turning it on when rare occasions require. I have not been able to install it yet, but look forward to doing so soon so I can finish this project.

Wired the outlet in per instruction (I am very well versed in home wiring). Went to connect to the router and spent two hours with no luck. Factory reset the outlet and tried again. Finally got it to recognize the outlet in the app but the outlet failed to pair to the wifi (2.4 g channel). Reset it again and now it won’t even go into pairing mode. Don’t waste $40 on this overpriced piece of trash. To make it worse, only one outlet is controlled which I didn’t find out until after purchase. I will be returning tomorrow after I uninstall the outlet. Thanks for wasting over two hours of my time plus the gas to make TWO trip to . SMH

There is a faulty batch or design flaw with these outlets, which is unfortunate because the ‘smart’ functions and overall design is good.
The controlled outlet turns on and off with a nice click from an internal relay. No doubt this is a robust switching mechanism.
The problem with it is bizarre, and now repeated with two different outlets, albeit from the same store/batch/box.
The non controlled outlet does not seem to make proper contact with plugs. Even more bizarre, is if it isn’t making contact with the inserted plug, the controlled outlet wont receive power.
So you can have both outlets plugged and the controlled outlet turned on, and neither will be receiving power.
Unplug the non-controlled outlet, and power returns to the controlled outlet.
I’ve found with both units, that bending the plug prongs outward help with making contact with the non-controlled outlet, but it’s shaky at best. You can wiggle the plug and power will cut out to both outlets.
I have these hooked up to my sewer ejector pump and hot water recirculating pump. I’m a bit nervous the ejector pump wont operate, but at least I’ll have some warning if my recirc pump doesn’t work.
Be warned if using this for critical appliances.
I’ll gladly revise this review if Eaton wants to address this.

I would have given five stars if it worked out of the box. Instead, I had to cycle the modes on it by holding the on/off button for five seconds, then toggling to a mode that allowed it to connect to the Alexa app. I really like that all I need is the Alexa app to set it up and manage it. I never had to download a third party app.

It’s very easy to install in the wall and, since I already had the Alexa app, extremely quick and easy to connect there too. It took me about 15 minutes to install, including walking up and down three flights of stairs to turn the power off and on. Minimal tools needed for the connection: a wire tester, phillips head screwdriver, wire strippers, and a small flathead screwdriver to disconnect the wires from my old plug.
The one inconvenient thing about the install is they didn’t include the very inexpensive faceplate in the package. With the bad weather in my area, I had to wait a couple of days to pick one up.
I have other smart plugs throughout my house, but they’re block plugs that sit on top of and plug into the outlets. This Eaton outlet, with the smart function already built-in, gives a clean, seamless look that I love. I use the Alexa function to turn the plug into a sleep timer for my DVD player so it’s not running all night (if interested, under Routines, create new, add voice function (Alexa, sleep timer), DVD player=On, Wait 35 minutes, DVD player=Off). Works perfectly!
I would definitely recommend to a friend and I’m going to replace all of my old block smart plugs with this one. I love it!

Outlet was really easy to install. If you’ve installed a normal outlet before, you will have no problem installing this one. It connects through Alexa super easy. Easiest smart device that I’ve installed through Alexa. I like that it doesn’t need an app. I hate how many apps you have to keep on your phone for smart devices and with this outlet, an app isn’t necessary. The drawback from keeping it from having 5 stars, is that you need to pick up a separate outlet cover for this because it is different from the ones you have installed in your home. The second drawback is the back of the outlet is so large that you barely have room in a normal outlet hole to fit it all in there with the wires. Overall, great quality smart outlet.

like that you can use it with amazon Alexa versus having to purchase a plug for it now you can just change out the outlet and have two things plugged in versus the 1 adapter for each plug. Didn’t take my husband too long to put in but he’s mechanically and electrically inclined since that what he does for a living. I think I
will be purchasing some of these for other rooms in our house
