With all the gadgets we have in the house, there are so many cords coming out of surge protectors and plug ins to our outlets. I was looking for a way to organize all the cords and make things look cleaner and neater at our wall outlets. After looking at the hardware store, I saw the Square D X Series 15-Amp Tamper Resistant Residential Decorator USB Outlet Dual Type A, Matte White and thought, this is what I have been looking for. Not only is this easy to install, but it offers the ability to have gadgets charging in the two USB ports at the same time, while also allowing the power receptacles to be used at the same time.
I am not an electrician, so I liked how this was such an easy install, and one home improvement project I could do myself. And, once it was installed, and I snapped the interchangeable wall plate on, and stepped back to take a look, I really liked how this new outlet looked. It was not only stylish and fit with the aesthetic of my kitchen, but was now more functional and offered less clutter, than my previous setup with cords and chargers everywhere. If you are looking for an update your wall outlets that will offer up dual USB charging and outlet use at the same time, I highly recommend you pick up and install the Square D X Series 15-Amp Tamper Resistant Residential Decorator USB Outlet Dual Type A, Matte White. You will be glad you did!

This receptacle with two USB ports works quite well and was easy to connect. It has clamp-down connectors so you don’t have to create a hook at the end of the wire to attach it. The construction is boxey which oddly seemed to make it easier to clearly see which attachment points to use for the hot/nuetral wires. I have ttwo criticisms: First, it is rather large and takes up a lot of space in the wall box. A lot. If possible, a deep box will work best. Second, and this is just an annoyance, there is writing on the face of the unit for the USB ports and if you install the receptacle so that the ground prong holes are down, the writing is upside down! I am accustomed to installing receptacles so that the ground prong slot is on the lower side of a receptacle when it’s in the wall. But if you do that with this unit, the writing showing the USB amps is upsdide down. Not a big deal but rather annoying.

I absolutely love this outlet! I have not owned one with USB ports before, and oh my is this convenient! So many things use USB ports for charging these day, and to have them just built right in is so wonderful! I have this unit next to my couch, and it gets some very heavy use out of it already. Hold my cords plugged in nice and snug. I sometimes pull my phone a little too closely while it’s charging, causing it to tug a little at the charging port, but it doesn’t easily pull out of the unit with my little tugs. I love it. Such good quality!

I installed the SquareD X series about a month ago and couldn’t be more pleased with the quality and performance..where has this been all of my life? It’s one of those things that you didn’t know you needed until you have it lol.
Right out of it’s box I could tell it would be a high quality outlet box. Fully encased in its own substancial little case with rounded corners and no sharp edges, wiring all tucked in and hidden, and just 3 screws to hook up. I followed the instructions for using a ground wire and seriously it was so easy, full proof actually because the screws are marked for each wire. It took longer to walk to the breaker box than it did to install 🙂
Now that it’s been used fairly heavily the plugs still glide in and out as they did from day one and still stay in securely without any droop. The USB recognizes and implements fast charging for my Galaxy phone and also charges our iPads lightening quick. No tripped breaker with ALL outlets in use either. Used in conjunction with the 1 gang screwless wall plate also from SquareD this outlet looks updated and modern with a bit of a decorative feel. Very very pleased with my new outlet

I have to say that I love having the extra charging ports on the wall receptacle and i love that they are 4.8a; powerful enough to not become outdated for many years hopefully. The item is solid and well thought out with wire connectors that are marked for neutral and hot and that are push in and secure with screw. This ensures that when time to replace you will not have to cut and strip the wires again because they would not come out. What I did not like is that there were no instructions and no obvious way to figure out that I had to put the faceplate mount onto the back of the unit BEFORE connecting the wires. Thus, I had to take it back apart and install the mounting plate and then rewire again.

I love this smart outlet! I use various smart plugs throughout my house, but this is my first outlet, which I prefer because I don’t have a big bulky plug connected to it. I consider myself a pretty handy person/diy’er, and found the install to be very quick, easy, and straightforward. The biggest things is to make sure you turn the power off to the outlet and to double and triple check it to make sure no power is going to it. The install was for this outlet was very easy in my wall cavity and the outlet has multiple mounting holes for versatility if your setup is different. The app was easy to find, download, install, and setup, and use. I also added it to Alexa and Google, and that was fairly straightforward as well, but I also consider myself tech savvy. All in all, this is the best smart outlet, and I will definitely be getting more to replace all my smart plugs with. You can use these to control your lights, devices, small appliances, etc. And all with your smart phone or voice!

I picked this plug up to see if I wanted to replace all of my outlets with some that have USB ports on them. I installed my first one near the couch I lounge on in the evenings and it has made charging my phone super easy. Not having to find a brick to plug in makes it easier to have extra charging cables laying around. It also charges at 2.4 amps, so it’s comparable to the”fast charging” bricks that new phones use. I probably won’t change all of my outlets, but will definitely retrofit any that I usually charge my phone at, like near our beds and a few around the living room and kitchen. Installation is easy, if you have installed any outlet before. It has screw terminals and push-in type connections. And the faceplate has hidden screws to keep the front flat and neat. Great outlets.

The whole process took less than 5 minutes. I really love that this receptacle has the added USB charging ports in it as well. The last few years I’ve been slowly updating my 1942 home and these are the bee’s knee’s. In my bedroom I only have one accessible outlet to use so this was an awesome find. It’s so great to be able to fast charge both my phone and tablet at the same time. My kids and grandkids are always loosing their USB charging squares so I’m definitely planning on putting multiple of these lifesavers through out my house. Nowadays everything charges USB lights, personal fans, phones, tablets, flashlights, headphones we even have a two cup blender. They will make the perfect stocking stuffer for a few family members. They came with simple to understand instructions and where so easy to install.

I got two of these because I’m a tech nerd and thought I would utilize them *somewhere*. I now possess a number. I have changed the regular outlets behind every television so that I, my kids, or visitors may charge their Roku, Firestick, Apple TVs, etc. These are in every bedroom because I want my kids and visitors to be able to recharge their phones at night. I have them in the kitchen and the library to power speakers and other small equipment. They are incredibly useful, which I never would have imagined. Clear installation instructions make it simple. Posts for hot and common terminals are clearly identified.

I replaced an older outlet that I had a couple of permanent usb devices plugged into. The push in connection worked great. I like that the screw is actually clamping the wire and not just the instant catch push in connection. The only issue I had was that the ground connector did not allow much space for the wire. I was able to finally unscrew enough to get the ground wire attached. It looks great, as you can see.
