The smart wall plug contains 2 regular plug sockets plus one standard USB port and one C USB port. The installation instructions are not super clear. The instructions also show the plug with the grounding hole on top but all standard plugs have the grounding hole on the bottom. Once we figured out how each wire should be installed the actual installation was super simple. I appreciated the speed wiring holes in the plug. Each set of holes is labelled for ease of installation. You just poke the wires down into the holes (making you sure you are using the correct wires) then turn the screws to hold them in. This allows for easy release of the wires if you need to change the plug out at a future point in time. The cover plate is nice and sleek with no screws on the outside. It also was easy to snap into place.

In today’s day and age with electronics and multiples devices that need charging daily, you have probably found your home outlets overflowing with charger plug ins, that leave your wall outlets looking cluttered and unappealing to the eye. I know for my family, a family of 4, we have most of the outlets in our house full of plugs to charge cell phones, tablets, wireless earbuds, etc. So, lots and lots of cables and plugins hanging from different outlets throughout the house.
Recently I started looking online to see if they have outlets that offer USB outlets to update our current outlet setups. I was pleased to see that they do in fact have USB Outlets with matching face plates available, that are sleek and easy to install. This past weekend, my husband set out to replace one of our outlets with the new USB Outlet and matching face plate. Now, know that he is not a handyman, and hates any sort of home improvements…but, after installing the USB Outlet which came with very easy to understand and follow along directions, he was able to install the new outlet and it looks amazing and works perfectly. I love not only how it looks, but how I don’t have to see the clunky charger plugs taking up the outlet now. Instead, I can simply plug a device cable into the USB port to charge and have the actual outlet ports for my counter top appliances, etc. Also, I have found that our devices are charging faster, too, when plugged into the USB outlet, compared to before when I had all these wires and plugins in one outlet.
If you are looking to update wall outlets in your house, or just want a cleaner wall outlet for charing your electronics and for use with your other plug in products, I highly recommend you check out this X Series USB Outlet, and be sure to pick up the matching wall plate to go with it. My husband said it was an easy install, and we already picked up more USB outlets and wall plates to update all the other outlets in our home for a fresher and cleaner look.

It seems like every time I need to use an outlet, my devices’ chargers are using both of them. If I unplug one, it’ll be just my luck that I forget to put it back later. This duplex receptacle provides both USB A and the newer USB C sockets so I can plug my charging cables right in and still keep the outlets free. The USB A socket provides up to 2.4 A. I tested it out with both my phone (which charges at ~1.6 A) and a special USB load that I have (it uses almost 1.9 A) and it works fine. The USB C socket can provide up to 3 A, but I don’t have a tester for that. The specifications claim that up to 5.4 A total can be supplied, so I can charge my phone and heated glove batteries at the same time. One thing I especially like is the way the wiring is done. While I am comfortable with looping my 120 V supply wires around the screws when installing receptacles (I never use the stab-in holes on them; too unreliable), this unit specifically indicates that you should NOT loop the wires. Instead, you strip the wires back ~12 mm (1/2″), insert them into the holes on the back, and tighten the screws. The wires are then clamped securely. Two holes are provided for each wire, hot and neutral, so daisy chaining to the next receptacle is easy. One last thing; the wall plate for this is very stylish. Instead of the attaching it with those short screws that are visible, it has a backing plate that attaches to the receptacle, then a “finish” plate that snaps onto that. No visible screws and easy to clean. I’ve already bought some extra to replace the old ones around the house!

This is an outlet that you never realized you needed, until you install it! Today’s electronic devices are very USB dependent so it really helps to have a handy charging port. And this one is easy to install, plus it’s backed by the time-tested reputation of Square D. This one will keep you flowing in the right direction, to power your work and play. It will also make you check out the other products in Square D’s formidable portfolio. So why be inconvenienced when your products conk out, when you can put the power of Square D at your fingertips? This weekend, make purchasing and installing one of these as your Job One — then you can relax while your devices charge up! How can you possibly lose?

This receptacle with two USB ports works quite well and was easy to connect. It has clamp-down connectors so you don’t have to create a hook at the end of the wire to attach it. The construction is boxey which oddly seemed to make it easier to clearly see which attachment points to use for the hot/nuetral wires. I have ttwo criticisms: First, it is rather large and takes up a lot of space in the wall box. A lot. If possible, a deep box will work best. Second, and this is just an annoyance, there is writing on the face of the unit for the USB ports and if you install the receptacle so that the ground prong holes are down, the writing is upside down! I am accustomed to installing receptacles so that the ground prong slot is on the lower side of a receptacle when it’s in the wall. But if you do that with this unit, the writing showing the USB amps is upsdide down. Not a big deal but rather annoying.

I picked this plug up to see if I wanted to replace all of my outlets with some that have USB ports on them. I installed my first one near the couch I lounge on in the evenings and it has made charging my phone super easy. Not having to find a brick to plug in makes it easier to have extra charging cables laying around. It also charges at 2.4 amps, so it’s comparable to the”fast charging” bricks that new phones use. I probably won’t change all of my outlets, but will definitely retrofit any that I usually charge my phone at, like near our beds and a few around the living room and kitchen. Installation is easy, if you have installed any outlet before. It has screw terminals and push-in type connections. And the faceplate has hidden screws to keep the front flat and neat. Great outlets.

With all the gadgets we have in the house, there are so many cords coming out of surge protectors and plug ins to our outlets. I was looking for a way to organize all the cords and make things look cleaner and neater at our wall outlets. After looking at the hardware store, I saw the Square D X Series 15-Amp Tamper Resistant Residential Decorator USB Outlet Dual Type A, Matte White and thought, this is what I have been looking for. Not only is this easy to install, but it offers the ability to have gadgets charging in the two USB ports at the same time, while also allowing the power receptacles to be used at the same time.
I am not an electrician, so I liked how this was such an easy install, and one home improvement project I could do myself. And, once it was installed, and I snapped the interchangeable wall plate on, and stepped back to take a look, I really liked how this new outlet looked. It was not only stylish and fit with the aesthetic of my kitchen, but was now more functional and offered less clutter, than my previous setup with cords and chargers everywhere. If you are looking for an update your wall outlets that will offer up dual USB charging and outlet use at the same time, I highly recommend you pick up and install the Square D X Series 15-Amp Tamper Resistant Residential Decorator USB Outlet Dual Type A, Matte White. You will be glad you did!

I received this USB A/A 4.8A duplex receptacle to install, try & review. The installation was quick & easy and the instructions were extremely easy to follow. The whole process took less than 5 minutes. I really love that this receptacle has the added USB charging ports in it as well. It makes it extremely convenient to have something plugged in for use & I can also have my phone USB Cable plugged in as well to charge my phone with out using one of the electric plugs. This makes for extremely nice convenience and frees up the 2 plug outlets on the receptacle to be used for other things! We will definitely be replacing ALL of our receptacles in our entire house with these USB A/A 4.8A Duplex receptacles!

I have to say that I love having the extra charging ports on the wall receptacle and i love that they are 4.8a; powerful enough to not become outdated for many years hopefully. The item is solid and well thought out with wire connectors that are marked for neutral and hot and that are push in and secure with screw. This ensures that when time to replace you will not have to cut and strip the wires again because they would not come out. What I did not like is that there were no instructions and no obvious way to figure out that I had to put the faceplate mount onto the back of the unit BEFORE connecting the wires. Thus, I had to take it back apart and install the mounting plate and then rewire again.
